Department of Education is reported to have been opening their ears to stakeholders in suggestions for improving classroom and academic improvement.

Steps that DepEd is taking is extremely important. This can possibly help millions of students that have difficulty catching up with the requirements demanded for their particular grade level.

Numerous students are having difficulty with basic literacy and numeracy. In Urdaneta City National High School (UCNHS), about 454 students are partaking in the ARAL program aimed to enhance literacy and numeracy rates in students.

Improvements get more crucial as the grade level goes up. Data gathered in school years amidst the pandemic, senior high school graduates are said to have a hard time performing in college and finding a job, contributing to the 4.9% unemployment rate as of June 2026.

Triggered by the recent improvements, Netizens ask the question “Why didn’t they do this sooner?”.

Advancements in the education system is continuously evolving. Workloads have lessened, instruction has been prioritized, and AI is being used as a tool in our school system as of DepEd Order no. 16 s.2026.

Gemma Marie Fertizanan, Head Teacher in UCNHS, stated that she believed that the small steps DepEd is taking will eventually get the system where they want to be.

“Although I cannot speak on this directly, I believe that DepEd is advancing,” Fertizanan said in response to the changes DepEd has made.

Amidst these enhancements and support to the field of education, caution is still necessary as the beneficiaries of these changes can possibly change the way the administration is in the Philippines.
